17 Avenue Marnix 1000 Ville de Bruxelles BelgiumDescription
The financial crisis has led to a substantial revamping and creation of regulatory bodies and rules. New challenges, conducts and potential equilibrium shall arise from these. In this context, it is of particular importance to benefit from a multidisciplinary analysis combining Law and Financial Economics.
With the presence of:
- Prof. Emilios Avgouleas, International Banking Law and Finance Chair at the University of Edinburgh. He is the author of Governance of Global Financial Markets: The Law, the Economics, the Politics (Cambridge, 2012).
- Ivan Peeters, Partner at Stibbe, specializing in financial services regulation. He was heavily involved in the design and negotiation of liquidity support for several large Belgian banks. And continues to represent them in litigations involving complex financial instruments.
- Prof. Hugues Pirotte, professor of finance and risk management (Solvay Business School, ULB), specializing in corporate finance, complex instruments and risk management and governance. Author of Advanced Credit Risk Analysis (Wiley, 2000), he is a researcher on Best Practices in Banking Risk Management for the NBB and the co-founder of FinMetrics, a Swiss firm providing expertise and risk dashboarding for banks, group treasuries and funds of hedge funds.
- Jo Swyngedouw, Head of Prudential Policy and Financial Stability, National Bank of Belgium. Jo is also member of the Board of Supervisors of European Banking Authority (EBA), alternate member of the Supervisory Board of ECB and previously held the chair of governance and remuneration subgroup of EBA. It is interesting to note, given the combination of disciplines we offer through the conference and the panel that Jo holds a Master in Law and Economics (from KULeuven).
